Teeth Whitening

TEETH WHITENING

Teeth whitening is a method of brightening teeth by oxidizing the pigment molecules that cause discoloration. Dentists may also use additional techniques to enhance whitening results according to each patient’s needs.

There are two main types of teeth whitening:

  • At-home whitening: Using whitening gel and customized trays to whiten teeth at home.

  • In-office whitening with light activation: Using plasma lamps, halogen lamps, or specialized laser systems. Among these, laser whitening delivers the most noticeable results.

AT-HOME TEETH WHITENING

Based on each individual’s dental condition, the dentist will provide custom-fitted whitening trays. Whitening gel is placed into the tray, and patients wear it for 2–3 hours each night.

ADVANTAGES

  • Low cost, simple procedure

DISADVANTAGES

  • Requires strict compliance with the dentist’s instructions

  • Results are gradual

  • Possible tooth discoloration after whitening if oral hygiene is not maintained
